MANILA, Philippines – What is the craziest thing you’ve ever wanted to do in a museum?

Have you ever wanted to jump into a painting and give it a whole new twist? If the answer is yes, then there’s a place you can go.

Simple building holds wonders within

Art in Island museum is gaining popularity because it lets you do what none of the traditional museums will: play with the art.

The thought of visiting a museum where the point is to interact with the art may feel overwhelming but we’ve got some tips to help you make the most of your visit!

When to go

The museum is open from Tuesdays to Sundays between 9:30am-9:30pm.

Address: 175 15th Ave., Brgy. Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City

If you want to spend as long as you want – doing all sorts of crazy poses until you have that perfect photo – we suggest you go early on a weekday.

Our Wednesday trip gave us the place almost all to ourselves until around 12:00pm.

The REAL secret behind Marilyn Monroe's famous photo.

What to bring:

Ticket money – the tickets are at P500 (approximately $11.30) for adults and P400 (approximately $9) for students, PWDs, & senior citizens.

Socks – you will be asked to deposit your footwear before going in so make sure to either get your nails done or bring a cool looking pair of socks!

Camera – be it a cell phone camera or a professional-grade DSLR.

Props – there are a lot of scenes you can make even better with the help of a prop or two.

Friends – to pose with and take your photos. For the lone wolves, there are staff inside who can take your photos for you.

Ready? Let’s take a tour:

Be a surfer, a mermaid, an oyster, as the first room takes you to an underwater world.

See if you can survive the wild by posing with different animals of the jungle.

Play with paintings in the hallway of famous artwork given a twist.

This room is easy to miss but if you see it you may just fall.

Perhaps the most eye-catching room of them all, with every wall surface covered in gigantic artwork.

Ever wanted to make a wish at the Fountain of Trevi, take a Gondola ride along a canal, or even climb the leaning tower of Pisa? This hallway is for the Eurotripper in us all.

From the Nativity to heaven and hell, they have a room filled with religious symbols and scenes, even Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam.

Follow the snowy path and play with Santa and his reindeer.

One room for all your nightmares about people stepping out of your mirror.

This hallway begins with love and ends with a fairytale.

Step through the bars to get a feel of what life is like in the slammer.

You’ll be arguing over who gets to be the bigger person for this optical illusion!

Your magazine cover awaits in the same corner where the chair illusion will blow your mind.

The visit took us around 3 hours of planning, posing, exploring, and cracking up. It was a morning very well spent and none of the other visitors mocked us no matter how weird we looked.

A few tips:

Go crazy

This is perhaps the most important thing you need to remember. Be creative and playful when posing with the art.

You could even have a competition with your friends on who can come up with the best photo.

Prepare

Before visiting the museum, we checked out photos of the artwork online and thought up unique poses for our shots.

If your mind draws a blank as to what pose you can make, look for the photo samples on the walls to get some insipiration.

Check the guides

Look out for the camera angle guides on the floor as well so your photographer knows where best to stand to take a photo.

If you do get to a point where you pull something, take a break. They have a cafeteria with food and drink on both floors where you can rest.

Ask for assistance

The staff is very friendly and helpful when it comes to taking your photos and even suggesting how to pose or where to stand when taking a photo.
