Water service interruption in some Maynilad areas August 10-18
(UPDATED) Scheduled water interruptions on August 17-18 in Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Manila, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque, Pasay, and parts of Cavite are no longer pushing through

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Several service areas of Maynilad Water Services, Incorporated will experience water supply interruption from Monday, August 10, to Tuesday, August 18, as Maynilad realigns a primary pipeline in Tondo, Manila.

But as of Thursday, August 13, Maynilad announced on its Facebook page that the scheduled water interruption on this date in some parts of Cavite is no longer pushing through, as the pipeline realignment in Juan Luna corner Hermosa streets, Tondo, Manila is going to be finished ahead of schedule.

Likewise, scheduled water interruptions on August 17 to 18 in Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Manila, Muntinlupa City, Parañaque, Pasay, and some parts of Cavite nitong Agosto 17-18 are also not pushing through.

Maynilad earlier announced that areas affected by the rotating water supply interruptions are portions of Caloocan, Manila, Pasay, Makati, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Cavite City, Bacoor City, Imus City, and the towns of Kawit, Rosario, and Noveleta in Cavite.

Several areas of the West Zone would experience rotating water service interruptions, ranging from 12 to 41 hours beginning 1 pm of August 10, until 10 pm of August 13, and from 1 pm of August 17, to 3 pm of August 18.

During this time, Maynilad would stop water flow through the primary pipeline and isolate the segment that would be removed.

Water would then be allowed to pass through a bypass pipeline while the new cross-under primary line is installed.

The company would allow for a 3-day gap between its scheduled water supply interruptions so customers can replenish their water stock. Maynilad would have 35 water tankers on standby to serve areas that would experience prolonged interrupted water supply.

The company, however, is advising affected customers to store enough water for the duration of the service interruption. Those with overhead tanks are also advised to clean these before storing water.

The realignment is to give way to the flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Maynilad would realign its primary line along Juan Luna Street corner Hermosa Street in Tondo, Manila.

Maynilad’s primary pipeline is in the path of the interceptor drainage pipe of DPWH that would be laid along Blumentritt Street so it can direct floodwaters from the northern parts of Metro Manila to the Manila Bay.

The complete list of affected areas and their corresponding water interruption schedules may be downloaded from the Maynilad website.
