During the press conference Tuesday, January 12, Matteo said that viewers can look forward to an “exciting” show.

“You have these star agents [and] they have their own specific personalities that will shock all our televiewers,” Matteo said. “Our applicants, we call them auditionees…they’re very very good, from different backgrounds na sigurado mag-eenjoy ang mga televiewers natin lahat (Our viewers are sure to enjoy watching them).”

Andrew, who previously judged the 2016 edition, said the show is something people will enjoy.

“With this show, it’s good for the ears because it’s singing. All the talents here, they’re really yearning to be discovered. And at the same time. it’s good for the eyes because it’s fresh talent,” Andrew said.

Auditions are ongoing to search for 40 auditionees. From the 40, 18 will be chosen to go on to the next round, where they will be trained by the star mentors – Wency Cornejo, Mark Bautista, and Thyro. Teacher Georcelle will also guide the 18 on movement and stage presence.

The grand winner of the show will receive P1 million in cash and a recording and management contract with Viva.

The star judges said they’re looking for something different in the auditionees.

“This is a reality star search. Personally, as one of the judges on this show, I look for the total package,” Sam said. “I do believe that stars can be molded and basically, we’re looking for star potential.”

Janine, who started her career through the show, echoed Sam’s statement, saying: “I’m looking for honesty when he or she goes on stage… yung pagka-genuine ng performance niya (how genuine the performance is) and being himself or herself onstage.”

Katrina said it’s a contestant’s voice that she’ll likely focus on. “But at the same time, may iba’t iba kaming hinahanap and yung po yung nakakaganda and pagpinagsama-sama po namin iyon, yun ang star. We’re also able to learn from each other, sa mga comments as isa’t isa so it’s really a good show.

(We’re looking for different things and that’s nice because when you put those things together, those make a star. We also learn from each other through the comments we make, so it’s really a good show.)
