Sana may forever: Seasonal fast food items we want permanent on menus
From the McSpicy to Jollibee's choco mallow pie – why do the good ones always have to go?

They say you only know a good thing when it’s gone, and when it comes to our favorite temporary fast food items, we know the feeling. Why do the good ones always have to go?

They also say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, so that’s probably why these fast food crowd favorites come in seasons for a reason – whenever they come back, we always give in.

Here are the seasonal fast food items we wish were mainstays on the menu!

McDonald’s McSpicy, Twister Fries

McSpicy, when?! It’s been too long since McDonald’s McSpicy made its return – the ever-elusive spicy chicken burger of McDonald’s has teased us one too many times, with the last time being back in 2017 (they even had a garlic parmesan version).

Why is it so afraid of commitment? We just want that crunchy, spicy chicken fillet, lettuce, and spicy mayo in between two buns again!

McDonald’s did release a dupe version in April 2020 called the Spicy Chicken Burger, but we all know it wasn’t the same.

Most of us also always keep our eyes on the fries, especially if it’s McDonald’s Twister Fries! There’s just something about them – crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, curly, crisp, and spiced just right. It’s currently available on the menu since September, but who knows when it’ll be taken away from us again?

On the bright side, McDonald’s has seemingly made their Shake Shake fries a regular on the menu.

Jollibee’s pies, Crisscut Fries

The apple of our pies include Jollibee’s other dessert pies in limited flavors we miss, like the ube macapuno, ube cheese, and choco mallow. The first two were introduced in January and July of this year respectively, while the choco mallow last made an appearance in 2018.

Thankfully, the buko pie became a mainstay in October 2020 and so did the beloved original and spicy tuna pie, which came back for good in August 2021, after being just a temporary offering every Lenten season. But we’re greedy and need all the pies we can get!

At least the Aloha Burger is back forever and the Ultimate Burger Steak is available as of the moment, as well as Jollibee’s crisp, spiced Crisscut Fries – for now.

KFC’s Double Down, Chaco

We’re sure many wouldn’t mind having KFC’s deadly Double Down as a permanent staple on KFC’s menu, but for the benefit of the public’s cholesterol, perhaps it’s best that it isn’t.

KFC brought back the infamous Double Down – two deep-fried KFC chicken fillets sandwiching bacon, cheese, and mayo – in August, two years after it was reintroduced in March 2019. The spicy Zinger version was introduced in April.

KFC also came out with an odd chicken-and-taco hybrid in May 2019 that stirred a buzz among adventurous foodies – the Chaco featured KFC’s Original Recipe crispy chicken fillet folded like a taco, packing shredded lettuce, salsa, taco mayo, corn, and grated cheese inside. – Rappler.com
