![[Kitchen 143] Healthier meal options for busy families](https://www.rappler.com/tachyon/2021/06/image_6483441_3.jpg)
I cannot do it all. And when I’m busy, I have pantry staples, and freezer options for quick fixes that I can heat up or prepare for the kids in a jiffy.
These quick fixes need to be somewhat healthy-ish and sometimes, let’s face, if I am tired, I will agree to fast food delivery. But almost always, I would opt for the smaller brands, who prepare ready to heat and eat products from some of the mompreneurs and Instagram sellers that I follow.
Here are two of my favorites:
Yaya Lola
This homegrown brand sneaks veggies into our kids’ favorite dishes and snacks. From mixing veggies into her creamy mac and cheese sauce, to making nuggets that have a little extra, Katrina Guidotti-Stehmeier knows that we can be clever in providing the nutrition our kids need when they eat and snack, even if they are picky eaters.
Yaya Lola was born from the inspiration and the love and care of Kat’s long time yaya, who helped raise her and all of her five siblings. Truly a member of this southern based growing family, even the grandchildren lovingly called her by this name.

With healthy options that are kid friendly and packed with nutrition, parents can enjoy the ease of preparing frozen pizza, hidden veggie chicken nuggets, gluten free tocino, and grass-fed beef burger bites when time is short and quick meals are necessary.

Kat’s mission is simple: She wants to provide healthier options for own children, while aiding mommas of picky eaters to do the same. Hidden vegetables don’t make mealtime a battle over greens. Instead, finger food that is fun, packed with flavor, and full of goodness can be both a time saver and a life saver when busy mommas are feeding their little ones.
Look for her best selling mac and cheese bites, chicken poppers & nuggets, GF burger bites, veggie nuggets, cheese spread, GF pizza minis & her pasta sauces. Watch out for new developments with dessert pizzas and when Yaya Lola brings back crowd favorites that are more family friendly, like lamb burgers, fabada, and callos.

Berry’s Deli
Another momma on a mission (and incidentally Kat’s sister in law), Berry Tenchavez-Stehmeier also longed for healthier options for her kiddos’ favorite hot dogs and sausages. In 2019, using minimal preservatives (just enough for FDA approval) and all-natural ingredients without extenders, this brand has grown a cult following amongst mommas.
The brand also offers kits for fun food activities that are great for virtual celebrations, include Make Your Own Corn Dogs, and Chili Cheese Dog Kits in collaboration with Chef Angelo Comsti.

Berry has also come up with a line of pasta sauces that kids and kids at heart enjoy for meatless options should the occasion call for it.
Heavier meals and sauces are not the only thing we can look for, from this momma who wants to make meal times easier. She also has ready to pour pancake batter, specialty mustards, and even truffle products for the more discerning palettes.
One of her newer products include her chorizo line that is, of course, available for delivery and perfect for keeping in the freezer for a quick tapas or meal solution.
Look for her best selling beef hot dogs, mini cheese sausages, bacon, and truffle pasta sauce. Keep an eye out for deli favorites and holiday kits that are packaged and ready to give as gifts!

Feeding our families doesn’t have to be laborious when we are short on time. Stocking pantry staples and freezer finds with healthier options can make meal times trouble-free.
This makes it easier to work from home, manage household chores, or even homeschool the kiddos, when we have options like Yaya Lola and Berry’s Deli to pull from, on the busier days that we face as mommas. – Rappler.com
