Business summit aims to teach youth about entrepreneurship

ILOILO, Philippines – Students who want to pursue entrepreneurship, marketing, and business management are set to attend the first Business Leaders Summit in Iloilo City from Friday to Saturday, February 26 to 27.

The two-day event will feature talks from industry experts and a business case analysis competition for university students.

The talks will cover emerging issues and trends in commerce and how experts from business and social entrepreneurship confronted various challenges.

Students will be able to interact with the experts, which include Mang Inasal founder Edgar "Injap" Sia II, GeiserMaclang managing director Bradley Eric Geiser, and Gawad Kalinga founder Antonio "Tony" Meloto.

The business case analysis competition, meanwhile, seeks to promote teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making – key skills for those interested to venture into business.

Entries will be judged based on how well the presentation guidelines were executed: a brief background of the case, problem, objectives, course of action, analysis, conclusion, and recommendation.

The summit, which has the theme "Bridging Leaders of Tomorrow Today," is being organized by the UP Visayas College of Management Student Council, Junior Executive Society, and the UPV Iloilo Junior Jaycees.

The event will be held at the UP Visayas Graduate and Continuing Education Building at the UPV Iloilo City campus and will be highlighted by the launching of the Business Leaders Network in Iloilo. – Rappler.com
