Jobstreet country manager Philip Gioca said it is the first time a utility company has made the list. Meralco even outranked SMC, which had ranked 1st for 3 straight years.
"Meralco ranked best in job security, in work-life balance, and in benefits. An employee says the company takes good care of its employees. It knows how to motivate its workforce and provide its needs," Gioca said in a briefing in Pasig City on Wednesday, August 30.
Google Philippines, Nestle Philippines, and Accenture Philippines rounded out the top 5 most preferred employers in the Philippines in 2017, Jobstreet announced during the briefing.

Job security matters most
Last year's survey showed that a competitive basic salary was the primary reason when choosing a firm to work for. For this year, respondents indicated that job security matters most to them. (READ: The highest-paying jobs for fresh grads in the Philippines 2015)
"In this year's list, employees look for job security, opportunities for career advancement, as well as perks and benefits. What strikes us the most is that salary is no longer their top priority. It could be because of the country's economic and political scene where there is a bit of instability," Gioca said.
He added that these choices indicate professionals are more interested in long-term gains, such as career growth offerings and promotions, as well as career-enhancing training and development opportunities.
"A strong leadership team that can mentor them in their professional trajectory [is] now more preferred, making it in the top 5 attributes of an aspirational company," Gioca said.
A total of 3,658 Philippine-based candidates took part in the survey, which was conducted last May. The respondents came from different position levels and represented various specializations. – Rappler.com
