MANILA, Philippines – Singer and stage actress Bituin Escalante threw shade – and only in the most respectful way – at talent competition Idol Philippines.
"If I joined Philippine Idol (sic), hindi ako papasa sa judges...kay Reg lang. At ok ako do'n (If I joined Philippine Idol, only [Regine Velasquez] would pick me. And that's fine with me)," she said in a tweet on Tuesday, June 4. (READ: First episode of 'Idol Philippines' draws mixed reactions)

Idol Philippines is a show on ABS-CBN that features Regine, Vice Ganda, James Reid, and Moira dela Torre as judges.
It has drawn flak for the way other judges have critiqued and chosen contestants.
Bituin first rose to fame in the 2000s, mostly for intepreting what would later be hit songs during various music festivals. She's since become a mainstay in shows such as ABS-CBN's ASAP and has dabbled in theater as well. – Rappler.com
