After Billy Crawford, Nikki Gil carries on

MANILA, Philippines - Nikki Gil is moving on, after a much talked-about breakup with singer Billy Crawford.

The 26-year-old actress-singer is seen in the Chito Roño film entry to the Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival, the suspense-thriller “Badil.”

And on television, she will make life miserable for Jessy Mendiola as the villainess in “Maria Mercedes.”

The past has passed.

For Nikki, life goes on and she no longer likes to dwell on the past. All she wants to do is focus on her career.

“I’ve kept quiet all this time. Siguro naman tama lang ang ginawa ko [I think I did the right thing].

“Less talk, less mistakes. No talk, no questions asked.

“Marami ang nanghihinayang sa 5 years na pinagsamahan namin ni Billy. But I guess hanggang doon na lang iyon.

(Not a few are saddened by the 5 years I spent with Billy and how it turned out. But I guess that’s how it goes.)

“I just want to be positive about everything. Ayoko na ng [I don’t want] negative vibes. I prayed that things will get better and it did.

“My career is [going well] and I can’t ask for anything more.

“My family and friends were there during the most difficult time of my life.

“Now I’ve healed and life goes on.”

Kontrabida

Nikki is proud of her role in “Maria Mercedes.”

“It’s my first time to really be an over-the-top kontrabida.

“Biniro nga ako ng staff na lahat ng galit ko ay i-focus ko sa character ko, lalo na kapag sasaktan ko si Jessy.

(The staff was kidding me that I should focus all my anger in my character, especially in those scenes I’m hurting Jessy.)

“Natawa naman ako. Baka grabe ang magawa ko kay Jessy! (That got me laughing. I might end up really hurting Jessy!)

“But I won’t take it out on Jessy, [of course]. I will turn that anger into something productive. Na hindi ko kailangan manakit ng ka-eksena ko [That I don’t really have to hurt my co-actor in the scene], di ba?”

Nikki said she hasn’t seen or run into Billy since they broke up. Some are asking if they could be friends.

“I don’t know. Sabi nga nila [As they say], you can never ever be good friends again with your ex.

“But let’s all pray that something good might come out of this.

“I am not closing any doors - hindi naman ako gano’n ka-[I'm not that] heartless.

“In due time, baka [perhaps] someday, we can both be civil to one another.” - Rappler.com
