MANILA, Philippines - Lorna Tolentino is one proud mom as she finds her youngest son, Renz Fernandez, doing well with his role in "Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko."
LT said she has been getting wonderful feedback both from friends and fans, saying they're surprised and happy to see Renz acting like a natural.
"Very happy ako kasi anak namin ‘yan ni [I'm very happy because he's my child with] Daboy [Rudy Fernandez]," said the 51-year-old multiawarded actress.
"Hindi ko inaasahan na [I didn't expect that] he will be good in acting. Iba kasi ang hilig niyan noon. [He was into other things before.] Yun pala sa showbiz din ang bagsak niya [In the end, he'd go into showbiz].
“Hindi ko naman siya pinilit sa showbiz [I didn't persuade him to go there]. Once they were finished with school, sila na ang mag-decide sa gusto nilang gawin [my children were left to decide for themselves].
“Nagulat na lang ako [I was surprised] when Renz said he wants to try acting. Kaya heto, aktor na aktor na siya tulad ng daddy niya [So there you go, he's very much an actor like his dad].”
Does she share some acting tips with her son?
“Yung mga simpleng tips lang. Just understand your character. Alamin niya ‘yung mga specific details ng role [He should know the specific details about the role] and start creating it in your mind.
"And, of course, act from the heart. Diyan manggagaling lahat ng mga emotions na kailangan mo [That's where you'll draw the emotions you'll need] for your role.”
Lorna herself has a new project coming - GMA's "Genesis," a "sci-fi" teleserye with political overtones.
She reunites with Dingdong Dantes, with whom Lorna T last appeared in "Pahiram ng Sandali" where their characters became caught in an illicit May-December romance, a highlight of that hit serye last year. - Rappler.com
