WATCH: Group AKTOR rally behind health workers in touching video

Actors’ group AKTOR – League of Filipino Actors’ released a video on Wednesday, August 5 to show support for the country’s medical health workers.

In the video, actors led by Piolo Pascual, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, Iza Calzado, and Jodi Sta. Maria expressed their gratitude to medical workers who continue to do their duty despite the risk, fatigue, and exhaustion.

“Ilang beses man kaming gumanap na doktor at nurse, hindi namin matutumbasan ang laki ng kontribusyon ninyo sa bayan, lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” the group said.

(No matter how many times we play doctors and nurses on screen, there is no way we can thank you enough for what you do for the country, especially now during a pandemic.)

“Kami sa Aktor ay nagpapadala ng liham pag-ibig para sa lahat ng ating health workers sa frontlines—ang aming mga bayani. Alam naming hindi sapat ang mga salita, pero ito na muna sa ngayon.“

(We in Aktor send this love letter for all our health workers on the frontlines – our heroes. We know our words aren’t enough, but this is all we can give for now.)

The video was released days after President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at medical associations after their wrote a public letter over their concerns as COVID-19 cases continued to spike in Mega Manila.

The medical associations later issued a statement to remind Duterte that COVID-19, and not the medical community, was the enemy.

On Sunday, August 2, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal was once again placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
