MANILA, Philippines – Social media can sometimes feel like a wasteland of negative comments, as Hollywood stars know. In a new edition of Jimmy Kimmel's popular "Mean Tweets" segment, a roster of stars read and react to awful tweets about themselves.
The reactions are always varied, and that's often the source of the jokes. The grand prize of reactions this round goes to 24 and Designated Survivor star Kiefer Sutherland, who flips the bird on a particularly nasty comment about forgetting he was alive.
Other gems include Ant-Man star Paul Rudd reading a comment about how bland he is ("You know he just sits at home with his wife having a bland spaghetti dinner talking about his day") and Ryan Gosling ("Why does Ryan Gosling always look like he's trying to squeeze a fart out without it making any noise?"). They have some pretty good comebacks, too – Ryan answers, "Because I'm a gentleman."
Margot Robbie got a long and meandering one that isn't a joke as much as it is truly mean: "'Tongue punch in the fart box' is a neglected phrase. Use it today! Example: Margot Robbie deserves a tongue punch in the fart box."
Hugh Grant, Kate Hudson, Greg Kinnear, Melissa McCarthy, Chris Evans, Jane Lynch, Norman Reedus, Anthony Mackie, Judd Apatow, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron, Wanda Sykes, Russell Crowe, and Bryan Cranston round out the celebrities who had their turn reading "Mean Tweets" for its 10th edition.
