MANILA, Philippines – The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences, Inc. (FAMAS) Awards 2016 ceremony was held at the Century Park hotel on Sunday, December 4, with Felix Manalo winning 5 major awards. (FULL LIST: Winners, FAMAS Awards 2016)
Andi Eigenmann, who was nominated twice for Best Actress, accepted the award for Angela Markado. She dedicated the award to her mom Jaclyn Jose and daughter Ellie.
Dennis Trillo meanwhile won the Best Actor for Felix Manalo, which tells the story of the founder of Iglesia Ni Christo.
Special awards were given to Batangas Representative Vilma Santos-Recto, who accepted the Presidential Award, Gloria Sevilla, who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Robin Padilla, who accepted the FPJ Memorial Award.
In his speech, Robin said that he was also offering his award to Coco Martin and Dingdong Dantes, who are now starring in action films on television, while he continues to pursue a revolution outside of the entertainment industry.
The late German "Kuya Germs" Moreno was also given a Posthumous Award. His son Federico Moreno accepted the honor.
Gabby Concepcion and Lorna Tolentino won Best Supporting Actor and Actress for the movie Crazy Beautiful You starring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Gabby's award was accepted by his manager Popoy Caritativo.
Piolo Pascual, Sunshine Dizon, Jean Garcia, Enchong Dee, and Robi Domingo hosted the show.
