MANILA, Philippines – Filipino shadow play dance troupe El Gamma Penumbra got the Golden Buzzer from the judges on Thursday, April 29 and automatically secured a spot in the grand finals of Asia’s Got Talent.
They’re the second Filipino dance group to get the Golden Buzzer for the grand finals, the first being Junior New System last April 23.
After being chosen, the group broke down in tears, with one member saying, “We are very overwhelmed because we got the ‘Gold’ again. We will take this Gold as our inspiration to give a more meaningful performance.”
During their performance, judge David Foster said, "I just want to say that I live in a box, where I make music in a studio. And tonight, I got to come outside of my box and see something that was so, so moving and magical. It just amazed me."
Classical singer Gerphil-Geraldine Flores also advanced to the grand finals on the same night by public vote.
The Golden Buzzer is an opportunity the judges can use to put one act through to the next round. But unlike in the semi-finals, the judges can only put one act through as a unit each episode. – Rappler.com
