'Lady Gaga' fan asked to leave costume at the door

MANILA, Philippines - A Lady Gaga concert is one big showcase for rebellious, eccentric fashion. But for those scheduled to watch the pop star's show on May 22, Tuesday -  the last in her 2-day "Born This Way Ball"  here - don't be surprised if security first checks how 'safe' your outfit is before letting you in.

JV Canta, 23, who came to see "mother monster" on May 21 opening night, was asked to take off his costume because it was made of hard wood. Canta said he was humiliated as he was asked to allegedly strip in front of others. He was later given a shirt to put on instead.

Canta spent P10,000 for the costume, which he said symbolized his environmental advocacy. "Remember SM? The cutting of trees?" he said. Canta was referring to the earthballing of some 40 pine trees in Baguio for the construction of the mall's parking lot.

Lady Gaga's show, incidentally, was held at SM Arena - the first event to be held at the newly constructed concert venue.

A call center agent and theater enthusiast, Canta said it took a friend one month to complete his costume and that it cost him twice than that of the ticket he bought.

When asked if he will file a complaint against the organizer, Canta said he's looking into his "options."
