MANILA, Philippines – Mr. Grey will see you now – or rather, you get to see him.
A new photo of Jamie Dornan as the wildly popular – and rather kinky – Christian Grey, from the film adaptation of the best-selling 50 Shades of Grey has been released.
This is in honor of the fictional character’s birthday, June 18 (June 19 in Manila).
The photo shows Christian at the wheel, aiming his brooding stare at the viewer. What sort of thoughts could he be contemplating in this scene?
Famously inspired by Twilight, 50 Shades is about a graduating college student named Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), who meets the rich, successful, and enigmatic Christian Grey when she gets to interview him for her school paper. Sparks fly, and when Christian eventually pursues Ana, he proposes that they enter into a dominant-submissive agreement. The two other books, 50 Shades Darker and 50 Shades Freed, chronicle the rest of Ana and Christian’s turbulent and eventful relationship.
Though this is the first official still from the movie, we’ve seen the actors in character before – specifically, on the cover of Entertainment Weekly (with bonus character photos, too).

Fans got to view a 5-minute teaser at CinemaCon in March 2014 – but according to a piece by Nicole Sperling for Entertainment Weekly, the teaser focused more on romance and chemistry than explicit sex, which is what the book is known for. In this clip, lucky fans got a glimpse of Christian’s helicopter, Christian and Ana’s first meeting, and another scene of the couple at the hardware store.
Luke Grimes (Elliot, Christian’s brother); Victor Rasuk (José, Anastasia’s friend; Eloise Mumford (Kate, Anastasia’s best friend and roommate); Marcia Gay Harden (Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, Christian’s mother); Rita Ora (Mia, Christian’s sister); Max Martini (Taylor, Christian’s bodyguard); Callum Keith Rennie (Ray, Anastasia’s stepfather); Jennifer Ehle (Carla, Anastasia’s mother); and Dylan Neal (Bob, Carla’s husband) round out the cast.
Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam had originally been cast as Christian, but he was later replaced by Jamie.
The movie will open in the Philippines February 2015. – Rappler.com
