The Itchyworms launching new album with online listening party on August 17

The Itchyworms is set to release their fifth album Waiting For The End To Start, and the band is hosting an online listening and live commentary party to launch it. 

The event, called The Itchyworms: The End Is Here, will be streamed live on The Itchyworms’ official Facebook page on August 17, from 7:30 pm onwards. The band will perform select cuts from the upcoming 9-track album, just before it becomes available on digital platforms worldwide.

The album contains two previously released tracks: “The Silence,” and “Armageddon Blues,” which speak of the mental and emotional crisis that people are experiencing in a pandemic. ([WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Itchyworms)

If the title doesn’t yet give it away, the album, conceptualized and recorded while in lockdown, is one that reflects all the anxieties and emotions that come with living through a pandemic.

“Like any collection of music, it is a record of its time: A snapshot of the artist’s reaction to his or her circumstances,” said Itchyworms guitarist Chino Singson.

“But it’s a concept album in that our aim was to create art in the midst of a pandemic, to capture our emotions in the music we record, even with the limited recording gear we have at home. So you’ll hear amp buzz and imperfect vocals, but for me that’s part of the spirit of true rock.” – Rappler.com
