'My Bebe Love' director confirms ticket swapping at MMFF 2015

MANILA, Philippines - My Bebe Love director Joey Javier Reyes confirmed on Friday, December 25, that tickets for his movie were being swapped with tickets for another Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) movie, Beauty and the Bestie.

As they are both part of the MMFF, the films were released on the same day.

Fans of My Bebe Love stars, Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza, cried foul on the film's opening day, when news of the ticket swapping spread on social media.

My Bebe Love was produced by Antonio P Tuviera Entertainment, a subsidiary of Television And Production Exponents Philippines, Inc, under GMA network. Beauty and the Bestie was produced by Star Cinema, under GMA's rival network ABS-CBN.

Alden and Maine are also known as the tandem AlDub. Their tandem was born on the afternoon variety show Eat Bulaga, where fans eagerly anticipated the moment the couple could finally be together.

On Twitter, Joey first warned moviegoers to check their tickets before leaving the counter.

ALDUB NATION: Just make sure you get the right ticket before you leave the counter. It COULD be an honest mistake but still ... BE AWARE. — Joey Javier Reyes (@DirekJoey) December 25, 2015

An hour later, he said that he received confirmation from the film's producers that the ticket swapping incidents were true.

Got word from producer:IT IS TRUE. Make sure that the title of the movie on YOUR ticket is what you want to watch.Beware of ticket swapping. — Joey Javier Reyes (@DirekJoey) December 25, 2015

BEWARE OF TICKET-SWAPPING. Look at the title of the movie on your tickets. REPORT anomalies or take IG pictures and POST in social media. — Joey Javier Reyes (@DirekJoey) December 25, 2015

Please be calm but cautious. More important, true happiness can only be obtained by sincere and honest actions. ALDUB NATION, be above this. — Joey Javier Reyes (@DirekJoey) December 25, 2015

Joey de Leon, one of the hosts of Eat Bulaga, also tweeted about the incidents, warning that ticket swapping isn't nice.

Babala: Pangit yang ST(Swapping Tickets). Wag naman. #ALDUBMyBebeLoveSaPASKO — Joey de Leon (@AngPoetNyo) December 25, 2015

On Twitter, SM Cinema addressed the incidents, saying that customers can have their tickets changed if a mistake is made, and that the incidents were due to the high volume of tickets being bought.

Their tweets were later deleted. The only tweet left on SM Cinema's account regarding the ticket swapping issue says that they are verifying details with SM Cinema Bacoor. However, not all the ticket swapping incidents happened in that branch.

Regarding the ticket issue: We'll be verifying the details with SM Cinema Bacoor first. Kindly wait for our update. Thank you. — SM Cinema (@SM_Cinema) December 25, 2015
