Zephanie is the third of 5 kids. She described her parents (her father is a pastor) as strict but according to her, she and her siblings learned so much from them.

Prior to Idol Philippines, Zephanie joined two singing contests on ABS-CBN. She was one of Sarah Geronimo's proteges in the Voice Kids in 2015. That year, Elha Nympha won the title.

She also joined Tawag ng Tanghalan with Jenine Berdin emerging as the winner.

During the auditions, she performed Sarah Geronimo's song "Forever Is Not Enough." Vice said she was cute and that she looked like a mixture of actress Julie Vega and Alessandra de Rossi. Although she still needed to work on a few things then according to the judges, she got 4 yeses from them.

Zephanie and fellow constestant Yarah Estella emerged as the winners of their group after singing "Born This Way."

In the Do or Die round, she sang "Ang Huling El Bimbo" with 6 other hopefuls.

For the solo round, she performed "I Believe" by Fantasia Barino.

Zephanie proved that she had what it takes to be part of the Top 12, singing National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab's hit "Paraiso," originally by Smokey Mountain.

Zephanie has always topped voting — all the way until she joined the Top 5 and the finals. During Day 1 of the grand finals on July 27, she performed "Lipad ng Pangarap."

After getting into the Top 3, Zephanie showed her singing prowness by performing Maghintay Ka Lamang" and a song composed for her by songwriter Jonathan Manalo called "Pangarap Kong Pangarap Mo."

On Sunday, July 28 at around 10 pm, she was the 5th top trending topic on Twitter, with #IdolPHGrandWinner at number 1.
