Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) also confirmed the sad news to ABS-CBN during the screening of Bb Pilipinas candidates on Monday evening. Moreno was a member of BPCI's executive committee.
According to a report from CNN Philippines, the late designer's wake will be at the Sanctuario de San Antonio Parish in Makati from January 17 to 19. He will then be brought to Manila Memorial Park on January 20, where he will be laid to rest.
Moreno was named a National Artist by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. In 2013, however, the Supreme Court ruled her proclamation invalid, revoking the conferment of the National Artist awards to Moreno, Cecille Guidote-Alvarez, filmmaker Carlo J. Caparas, and architect Francisco "Bobby" Mañosa.
Moreno, called the Fashion Czar of Asia, was considered one of the country's top designers. He was known for popularizing the Maria Clara gown early in his career.
His work has been featured in international glossies such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. – Rappler.com
