3 Abu Sayyaf killed in Sulu encounter

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Three members of the Abu Sayyaf group (ASG) were killed while 16 soldiers were wounded in an encounter in Patikul, Sulu on Tuesday, June 21.

Troops of the 32nd Infantry Battalion encountered around 200 ASG members in Sitio Bud Duwa Bayho, Barangay Pansul, Patikul, Sulu.

The encounter lasted for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, after which the ASG members scampered towards different directions.

The said encounter resulted in the deaths of 3 ASG members and the wounding of 10 others.

The soldiers who were wounded in the encounter were immediately brought to the Trauma Hosp KHTB, in Busbus, Jolo, Sulu for prompt medical treatment.
