Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque says he already feels well, but continues to take medication while under home quarantine

The mayor of Candaba town in Pampanga tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 19, Mayor Rene Maglanque said the result of his reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test came out on Saturday, July 18, showing he was positive for COVID-19.

He had taken the test last Thursday, July 16, as advised by the Candaba Municipal Health Office (MHO) after he exhibited symptoms.

(Despite following all health protocols, I first experienced COVID-19 symptoms on Monday night, including fever, cough, and diarrhea. I immediately went into self-quarantine and consulted the Municipal Health Office. They gave me medicine that I am still taking now even though I already feel well.)

He continues to undergo home quarantine. Contact tracing is also being done.

(I encourage all those I’ve encountered to self-quarantine and observe COVID-19 symptoms. Please reach out to the MHO for advice on steps to take.)

The mayor assured the people of his town that, despite being infected with the coronavirus, he is in good physical condition and that the municipal hall remains open for services.

He asked his constituents to follow the rules imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, like wearing of face masks, frequent handwashing and sanitation, and observance of physical distancing.

Maglanque is the 4th COVID-19 case in Candaba. Two of the infected persons have died, while the 3rd is still in a medical facility.

As of Saturday, Pampanga, including Angeles City, had recorded 212 confirmed coronavirus cases. – Rappler.com
