Malacañang asserted the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte to suspend Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang despite a Supreme Court (SC) ruling that declared such acts as unconstitutional. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales earlier rejected Duterte's order to suspend Carandang for 90 days.
One of the Constitution's framers, Christian Monsod, spoke out on Congress' push for Charter Change, saying the problem is not the 1987 Constitution but the legislators tasked to implement it.
