Malaysia deploys 7 army battalions

MANILA, Philippines - Malaysia deployed at least 7 army battalions near the village of Lahad Datu in Sabah Tuesday morning, March 5, to reinforce policemen running after Filipino gunmen holed up for more than 3 weeks now, reported.

In its timeline, malaysiakini, an independent news organization in Malaysia, said that shortly past 9 am, they monitored the deployment of 7 Army battalions in Sabah. This would be roughly 3,500 troops.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak ordered a fresh assault on the "intruders" at around 7 am Tuesday.

Two hours later, malaysiakini said "preparations are being made at the main hospital to receive casualties." -
