MRT operations temporarily stopped after seat catches fire

MANILA, Philippines – A passenger seat inside a train of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) caught fire early Monday, September 18, forcing the train to stop operations and unload passengers.

The regulator board under one of the seats inside coach 66 caught fire, according to a GMA News report.

The incident occurred around 6 am as the train was pulling into the Santolan-Annapolis Station.

The train was then forced to unload passengers. No one was injured in the incident.

The MRT3 has since resumed operations, but authorities are still determining the cause of the fire. – Rappler.com
