Water supply task force formed to serve affected Makati areas

MANILA, Philippines – Makati City Acting Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr has formed a task force to help ease the scheduled water supply interruption in some areas of the city from August 10 to 18.

Barangays Bangkal, Pio del Pilar, San Isidro, and Palanan in Makati will be among the affected service areas of Maynilad Water Services, Incorporated that will experience water supply interruption from Monday, August 10, to Tuesday, August 18, as Maynilad realigns a primary pipeline in Tondo, Manila.

Makati’s “Kidlat Task Force: Tubig sa Palanan” aims to reduce the impact of the temporary service disruption by providing the affected barangays with potable drinking water, and water for daily use.

“We would like to alleviate the burden of affected residents as much as possible for the duration of the Maynilad maintenance works. Our task force teams will be going around the affected areas to distribute safe drinking water for the safety and convenience of residents and stakeholders,” Peña said in a statement on Friday, August 7.

The task force will be divided into two teams: The first team will deliver water for daily use around the barangays with the help of 9 trucks on August 10, from 2pm to 4 pm, and on August 11, from 9 am to 4 pm.

The second team is composed of 8 trucks that will distribute safe drinking water for residents on August 10, from 3 pm onwards, and on August 11, from 10 am to 3 pm.

A command center will be set up at the Palanan covered court.

Peña said that members of the Tropang Kid Riders, motorcycle-riding volunteers for the acting mayor, will be handing out leaflets to the affected residents to encourage them to participate in the task force’s activities and to “avoid any problems that may be brought up by [the water] service interruption.”

Affected residents may dial 833-5000 for more information on the task force's services. – Rappler.com
