MANILA, Philippines – The provincial government of Quezon has declared the province under a state of calamity on Thursday, July 17.
“The Provincial Government of Quezon has officially declared the province in state of calamity today, July 17, 2014, 12:00pm,” the provincial government’s public information office announced on Twitter.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has said that Quezon appears to be hardest-hit by Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun), based on initial reports.
As of Thursday, 99% of the province remains without electricity.
A 60-day freeze on prices of basic consumer goods is imposed in areas under a state of calamity. – Rappler.com
