Longtime ABS-CBN broadcaster Ted Failon is moving to Radyo5, TV5’s radio station, following the media giant’s shutdown, at least 2 sources said.

An ABS-CBN insider said Failon’s radio staff and his co-host DJ Chacha, whose real name is Czarina Balba, will also be joining the broadcaster.

The information is also being shared among TV5 news and current affairs staff. TV5 is owned by Manny V. Pangilinan.

Rappler asked Failon, Balba, and TV5 news chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes for comment but they have yet to reply as of posting.

Failon Ngayon aired on dzMM for over a decade and underwent several transitions – from Tambalang Failon at Sanchez, with broadcaster Korina Sanchez, and Tambalang Failon and Webb, with anchor Pinky Webb, to its current title.

Other ABS-CBN radio hosts have also left the network following the government’s shutdown of the Lopez-owned media conglomerate.

Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja moved to dzRH, while Vic Lima will be hosting a weekly morning show on dwIZ. (READ: Ces Drilon, Korina Sanchez among first workers laid off by ABS-CBN)

ABS-CBN and all its radio stations nationwide were forced to go off-air early May due to a National Telecommunications Commission order. Lawmakers rejected its bid for a fresh franchise in July over alleged “numerous violations” – a decision widely condemned as politically motivated. 

All local “TV Patrol” programs in the provinces will also stop airing on Friday, August 28.
