Cynthia Villar, richest senator; Escudero, poorest

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Cynthia Villar remained as the richest senator in the country, based on her 2015 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

ABS-CBN reported that Villar declared a net worth of P3,500,565,480 in 2015. This is 43.34% higher than her 2014 net worth of P1,983,480,135.

Her declared assets include P4,588,619 in real properties based on acquisition cost; and personal properties comprised of P2,249,716,143 investment in shares of stocks; and P1,246,260,718 in other real and personal properties.

She has no liabilities.

On the other end is the poorest in the Senate – Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero with a net worth of P5,847,082.09 – slightly lower than his P6,049,082.09 net worth in 2014.

His fellow vice presidential candidate, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, was the second poorest senator with a net worth of P5.98 million, a little higher than his P5,549,000 declaration in 2014.
