LIVE UPDATES: Leni Robredo’s plans for 2022 Philippine elections

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Vice President Leni Robredo is set to announce her much-awaited political plans for the 2022 elections on Thursday, October 7, at 11 am (Manila time).

This marks the end of the Philippine opposition leader’s long and winding discernment process on her potential presidential run in 2022.

For months, the Robredo had kept allies and potential rivals guessing on what she would do in 2022.

She took pains meeting with other possible presidential contenders in a bid to build a bigger coalition for all dissenting voices against President Rodrigo Duterte, but unity talks have so far been futile.

Vice President Leni Robredo’s supporters are all fired up hours before the Philippine opposition leader will finally announce her political plans in the 2022 elections.

The Dapat Si Leni group asked other volunteers to wear pink on Thursday, October 7, to show their support for Robredo, whom they have long been urging to run for president.

“On Thursday, we wear pink. Atin ang kulay na ito sa 2022 (This color is ours in 2022),” read Dapat Si Leni’s Facebook post

It’s a play on the famous line from the movie Mean Girls, where a popular high school girl group would wear pink every Wednesday.

Robredo is set to make an “important announcement” about the 2022 polls at 11 am on Thursday.
