TNT management says Kelly Williams left the training bubble the KaTropa set up in Laguna even before it wrapped up

Just like everyone else, the TNT KaTropa only found out of big man Kelly Williams’ retirement on social media.

Williams apparently did not give TNT the heads up about his decision when he announced he has drawn the curtains on his stellar PBA career last Monday, September 7.

TNT staged its own training bubble at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna but management said Williams left even before the team wrapped up the two-week practice.

“Kelly Williams left our training camp on September 2 without any notice or explanation until now,” KaTropa team manager Gabby Cui told Rappler through a text message.

“He has not reached out to us ever since.”

In his retirement post, Williams thanked TNT for “extending my career” as he battled a rare blood disorder called thrombocytopenic purpura throughout his stint with the team.

Williams won two PBA Comeback Player of the Year awards after successfully returning from his illness to suit up for the KaTropa.

The 38-year-old said he can “lay my career to rest with peace in my heart.”

But TNT still wants some clarification from Williams.

“He is [absent without leave],” Cui said. – Rappler.com
