RTU, UP prevail in National Softball Intercollegiate Championships

MANILA, Philippines – Rizal Technological University (RTU) defeated Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), 3-2, in the men’s division finals while University of the Philippines (UP) took down PUP in the women's tilt of the ASAPHIL-Cebuana Lhuillier National Softball Intercollegiate Championship.

RTU was spearheaded by the impressive pitching of Richfield Custodio who struck out 6 batters and finished with the MVP award. Reynaldo Gaban was awarded the most stolen base award, Arnel Arieta was named the best slugger, and Zelbert Enriquez was named Best Pitcher, according to a media release.

From the women’s division, Irene Lumanas of University of Mindanao Davao was named best pitcher and hitter while national team member Kriska Piad had the most RBIs and received best slugger. The MVP plum was given to Cochise Diolata from UP.

"This one will come down as one of the best edition ever in the history of the National Softball Intercollegiate Championships,” said ASAPHIL President and Cebuana Lhuillier President/CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier.
