Gilas cadets thrash Timor-Leste by 105 points

MANILA, Philippines – The Gilas cadets continued their rampage at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, handing Timor-Leste a 105-point beating, 126-21, on Friday, June 12, in Singapore.

All 10 cadets fielded in had at least 5 points and never allowed Timor-Leste to score more than 8 points in any of the quarters.

Prince Rivero led the dominant charge with 24 points on a 12-of-13 shooting from the field to go with 5 rebounds and a block. Kevin Ferrer swished in 5 three-pointers for 19 points, while Mac Belo added 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Guard Baser Amer registered 14 markers and 5 dimes, as team captain Kiefer Ravena made good on 12 points and dished out 4 assists.

Center Marcus Douthit was rested in this game.

The Philippines, which improved to 3-0 in their group, finished the contest in the first period as they opened up a 40-3 advantage. The team went on to execute more of their plays over the course of the game.

The 37-year old Ivo Miranda was the top scorer for Timor-Leste with 6 points in over 34 minutes of play. It is Timor-Leste's first men's basketball stint in the SEA Games. –
