MANILA, Philippines - Fifth-year big man Arnold Van Opstal, UAAP MVP candidate Jeron Teng, and new DLSU Green Archers rookies will be included in the university’s 15-man line-up for the 2015 Hanes FilOil Flying V Premier Cup, team head coach Juno Sauler confirmed to Rappler on Tuesday, April 21.
After a few weeks of speculation, it’s now confirmed that Van Opstal will be part of the team’s line-up for the preseason tournament, which opens on April 25, Saturday. La Salle is the tourney’s defending champion, and will open their title defense against the San Beda Red Lions.
Besides Van Opstal and Teng, last year’s Green Archers Abu Tratter, Prince Rivero, Jason Perkins, Julian Sargent, Kib Montalbo, and Thomas Torres will also be part of La Salle’s FilOil roster.
The Green Archers are going to field new faces with incoming freshmen and rookies who weren’t part of the team’s UAAP roster last season.
Big men Larry Muyang and Daryl Pascual will give La Salle fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the duo over the next few weeks, while shooter Joshua Torralba will also be in uniform.
Members of La Salle’s 2015 recruiting class will be in display, as John Gob from La Salle Greehills, Jollo Go from Hope Christian High School, Andrei Caracut from San Beda High School, and Lorenzo Navarro from San Sebastian High School will make their DLSU debuts in the FilOil tourney.
NU High School’s Mark Dyke has also committed to La Salle, but isn’t included in the line-up for preseason tilt.
La Salle lost last year’s big men Norbert Torres and Yutien Andrada, and shooter Almond Vosotros to graduation.
